Matte black is the only shower finish that absorbs light instead of returning it, which is exactly why it works against tile. In a room of hard reflective surfaces the fittings become the one still point, drawn as a line rather than a highlight.
The finish is baked onto solid brass, not sprayed, which is what separates a black shower that still looks new in five years from one that wears through at the diverter handle where a wet hand meets it twice a day.
It is also the most forgiving finish in a shower. A non reflective surface shows neither the water spotting nor the limescale bloom that polished metal displays within a week in a hard water area.
The range here is deliberately small. Black belongs in a scheme that has committed to it, not as an accent.
