Brown is the quietest of the warm colours and the one that behaves most like a material rather than a finish. In glass it reads closer to amber or tobacco than to paint, and it holds light where a black basin absorbs it.
It is the natural partner to a timber vanity and to warm stone, and it is the colour that lets you use a dark basin in a room that has no daylight to spare, since brown keeps some warmth where black would simply go flat.
Against brass and bronze hardware it is the most coherent thing on this page. Against chrome it can look uncertain, so this is a finish that wants the faucet decided alongside it rather than after.
