Gold is not one finish, it is four, and the difference between them decides how loud the room is. Polished gold reflects everything around it and reads as jewelry. Brushed gold carries a visible grain that scatters the light and sits quieter against stone. Matte and satin sit quieter still, closer to the warmth of unlacquered brass than to anything shiny.
All of it goes over solid lead free brass, finished by hand in Italy, so the color has depth rather than the flat yellow of a plated fitting. Gold is also the finish most affected by the bulbs above it. Warm light pushes it toward bronze, cool light pulls it toward brass, and a photograph on a screen tells you almost nothing about either.
