Gold leaf is applied to these basins by hand, sheet by sheet, which is why no two are identical and why the surface has depth that a sprayed or plated finish never reaches. Look into a leafed basin and the light comes back from below the glass rather than off the top of it.
The range runs from gold leaf through champagne gold to a warmer rose gold. Gold leaf is the most traditional and the most reflective. Champagne is quieter and sits more easily in a room that is not otherwise ornate. Rose gold is the warmest of the three and the most flattering under artificial light.
A leafed surface is durable in use but intolerant of the wrong cleaner. Warm water and a soft cloth only. Abrasive cream and anything chlorine based will dull it permanently.
