Green is the colour people arrive at when blue feels obvious. In glass it is the most forgiving of the strong colours, because green sits naturally beside timber and stone in a way that red and yellow do not, and it reads as botanical rather than as a statement.
The colour is in the material rather than on it, so the basin goes deeper and darker as it fills and returns to a lighter tone when it empties. Against a pale counter it reads almost translucent. Against a dark one it goes to bottle green.
A green basin suits a bathroom with a window and something living in it. Under artificial light alone it loses most of what makes it worth having.
