Red is the most committed thing on this site and there is no half measure available. A red basin is the object in the room and everything else in the bathroom is now background, which is either the entire point or a mistake, depending on what you were trying to do.
It works in exactly one situation and works spectacularly there: a small powder room with a plain envelope, where a guest walks in and there is a single thing to look at. In a bathroom you use every morning it is a great deal of colour to meet at six o'clock.
In hand blown glass the red goes almost black at the base and lights to a deep ruby at the rim, and that gradient is what a painted finish cannot reproduce.
